Perhaps you hadn't thought about it but not all flying discs are made of plastic. Before the invention of this wonderful material (by Leo Baekeland who came up with Bakelite in 1907) discs that were tossed were objects made out of many different kinds of materials and for many practical purposes. (See Antiques/Tins & Lids.)
In this category you will find flying discs that have reverted back to materials that were around before plastic (such as wood, bamboo, rubber, and natural fibers) as well as new materials created since plastic flying discs began to soar (such as foam rubber and Gore Tex).
