According to the maker Raven Hanley, "My theme for these were in homage to the Pittsburgh steel industry. During the late 1800s and early 1900s, Pittsburgh produced so much steel that it earned the nickname “The Steel City.” At its peak, the city’s steel mills produced more steel than many entire countries, and the industry helped build some of America’s most famous structures, including parts of the nation’s railroads, bridges, and skyscrapers. Much of this growth was driven by industrialist Andrew Carnegie, whose steel company became one of the largest and most successful businesses in history. These trophies are completely hand made, glazed by my hand. They may have some imperfections, but my fingerprints are literally on them, and I take pride in that. Specifically taking inspiration from the smoke stacks seen around the Pittsburgh area. These are made with ^6 stoneware clay. Made by RH Designs pottery’s Raven Hanley. Based in Butler PA. Trophy courtesy of Gianna Losito.
