true legend of the disc golf world. This disc was part of the player pack at Joe's first Jumpin' Joe's Myositis Marathon (26.2 holes!) PDGA tournament fundraiser for The Myositis Association (TMA) which was held on May 9, 2026 in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota. The event was an Innova-sponsored PDGA-sanctioned XC tournament. In 1977, Jumpin' Joe became Minnesota’s first real disc golf mover and shaker, the founder of major MN DG tournaments and the longtime editor of PDGA's DiscGolfer magazine. Joe was inducted into the Minnesota Disc Sports Hall of Fame in 2006 and the World Disc Golf Hall of Fame in 2011. And now, Joe’s story goes beyond the sport of Disc Golf. In 2014, he was diagnosed with inclusion body myositis (IBM), a rare neuromuscular disease that causes progressive muscle weakness. Rather than step away, Joe has continued playing, advocating, and raising awareness for disc golf and IBM. Living with IBM for over a decade, he credits staying active—walking, strength training, daily movement, and keeping a positive outlook as keys to maintaining his quality of life. Regrettably, IBM currently has no approved treatment or cure, and research funding is critical. This first IBM tournament fundraiser brought in well over $10,000 for The Myositis Association, more than doubling Joe's original goal; plus, the field was full and thanks to INNOVA discs and many other local sponsors and individuals, the inaugural Myositis Marathon was truly memorable DG community event.
