Special Notes: Virtually all pie tins around the world have been tossed since their appearance in the mid-1800s. There is nothing special about those from the Frisbie Pie Company other than they achieved special recognition from being tossed by Ivy League college students (especially from Yale which happened to be located close to the Bridgeport, CT home of the Frisbie Pie Company.) The name "Frisbie" seems to have been the indirect origin of the name "Frisbee," but pie tins are not the origin of the first plastic flying disc (Pipco's Flyin-Saucer).
