Special Notes: The IFA was established in 1967 to "serve as a central communications forum to strengthen the bonds among FRISBEE players everywhere". The IFA established Proficiency standards. "Within the IF A there will be four classifications of members-Novice, Amateur, Expert and Master."
This certificate is for a novice and it was for Kenneth Glastetter. This has to be a VERY EARLY certificate as it has a hand written number on it of 145. To put this in context, I (Mike Hughes) joined the IFA in August of 1977 and my number was 80,656. This cert features some very heavy paper stock and the Frisbee in the center is embossed (raised). It is a fantastic piece of history.
This item was provided to the museum by Pat and Lynn Lancour. When asked where they obtained the certificate, here is their response [
The cert belonged to a very long time collector that collected from the late 1930's up until the 1990s when he passed away. He has a huge collection of comic books and premiums and belonged to every club you could imagine. If something had a membership club he was in it. I was lucky to be able to buy a bunch of his stuff about 8 years ago. He lived in New York.] Click here to see Ken's obituary
