Title: Ed Headrick Patent
Subtitle: Patent #3,359,678
Author(s): Ed Headrick
Year Published: December 26, 1967
Format:8.5 x 11 inches
Size: 8.5 x 11 inches
Number of Pages: 2
Publisher: U.S. Patent Office
Special Notes: This is the second page of the 2-page document illustrating the construction of the Pro Model (although it was kept generic enough to apply to any in the Frisbee line of products at the time). The patent applied for and awarded is a "Mechanical" patent (as opposed to a "Design" patent) which protects the physical structures of the product supposedly responsible for the claimed performance. In this case, the ridges (#16) were claimed to produce better stability and flight characteristics, although no data has yet been found to support that claim.
